A couple weeks ago I took the kids out for an assignment for Social Study: “Getting to know your neighborhood.” We walked from our house to Macdonald, see what kind of shops, land marks we have, at traffic lights and train track we talked about the need to “stop, look and listen”, so we don’t get run over…, it’s about 20 minutes walk there. We saw all kinds of shops, restaurants, dentists, post office. From the window display we try to guess what kind of shop they are and what kind of service they provide for people. The funny thing is that when we past the Pet foods store, I asked the kids what kind of the shop it is, they said “cookies shop”. In a way its true, just not for humans, ha. Anyway, I asked them to take a closer look, the realized it was for the Pets.
We arrived at Macdonald, we sat down and draw a simple map from our home to Macdonald, write down our address and phone number, do some coloring and we head home. It was a fun afternoon. Never realized that there are so many shops!
